“The inspiration I used for this shoot was a culinary theme. When working with couples for their wedding day, it’s all about bringing their personality out and to have it carry across the entire scape of their wedding. So, for this theme, I imagined a couple with a passion for cooking and food. The venue, The Summit House, was on such beautiful grounds and it gave me the feeling of Europe, and more specifically Tuscany. I used cooking pots as floral vessels and vegetables in the arrangements like artichokes, cabbage, and asparagus to help carry the theme, instead of typical flowers. The vegetables add another dimension and texture to the arrangement and Allison from Flower Allie executed the arrangements beautifully. I stacked classic cookbooks and Italian themed cookbooks and I placed a bottle of olive oil and used it as a table number with a label designed and printed by Copper Willow Paper Studio. Their designs of the invitation, escort cards and menu flowed tog ether as a harmonious unit and matched perfectly to my vision. I took the menu a step further by asking Jill to design it on a custom recipe shaped card. The thought would be that the couples’ favorite recipe could be printed on the back as an extra keepsake for the guests to take home. I brought the raw element of a wooden pattern ceramic tile as the table runner, layered on top of a striped linen from Luxe Linens. The mismatched china from Sugarbaker and Toad was the icing on the cake for the tablescape. I loved the mix of prints!
Maria, from RooneyGirl Bake Shop, went above and beyond by creating 3 stunning cakes. We collaborated on some ideas (I really wanted a naked cake) and she brought me sketches that exceeded my expectations. Her hand crafting with sugar to create cabbages, artichokes, and olive branches was so impressive! The escort card display is a concept I created by taking the idea of a place card often seen placed in the tines of a fork at the table and turning it into an art display of escort cards. Forks were adhered to painted wooden panels with each card placed, again, in the tines. The oval shaped cards even resembled eggs!
