We are thrilled to see this Redondo Beach sunflower wedding featured on The Knot! See an excerpt from the brides below!
“We wanted our colors to be joyful,” Deja Lewis and Michiah Baker recall of the inspiration for their blue-and-yellow wedding at Redondo Beach’s Portofino Hotel. Embracing a, “California Chic meets Georgia Charm,” theme, the couple incorporated teal, Deja’s favorite color, with varied shades of blue and pops of vibrant yellow. In an effort to keep the focus of their wedding design bright and cheerful, the couple asked their floral designer to create arrangements around those feelings. In addition to specifically-requested sunflowers, Gerbera daisies, amaranthus and white snapdragons were woven throughout. Even though the California wedding wasn’t without its hiccups—the cake arrived blue when it was meant to be white!—joy remained the center of the couple’s nuptials. Michiah recalls the first look as a particularly emotional part of the sunflower-inspired wedding day. “Although I loved every moment of our special day, the first look definitely takes the cake. Seeing my wife looking ever so glowing and just the feeling of what we worked so hard for to get here was finally upon us, and it was just us two in that moment. That feeling is something that only comes around once, and I loved every second of it!”
