Nearly 1,000 of L.A.’s most prominent business leaders, philanthropists and elected officials joined USC President C. L. Max Nikias and colleagues for a festive gala celebrating the opening of USC Village. We were thrilled to be part of the celebration! Our linens were used in a variety of spaces for the event.

“Tonight we can see the full span of USC’s extraordinary evolution from cornerstone to capstone,” Nikias told the crowd gathered in USC Village’s Central Piazza.

“And we recognize that the USC Village stands as the crowning achievement of all of our capital construction efforts, efforts that have been fueled and fulfilled by the philanthropic foresight of our entire Trojan Family.”

Among the attendees were most of USC’s trustees, including several whose generous gifts funded the residential colleges that are key to USC Village’s mission: David Bohnett; Charles Cale and his wife, Jessie Cale; Ray Irani; Kathleen Leavey McCarthy; and Shelly Nemirovsky and her husband, Ofer Nemirovsky.

We were honored to participate in Saint John’s 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration: “The Future of Excellence in Personalized Healthcare” on October 21. The evening commemorated Saint John’s founding and unveil a new era of medical innovation. Held at 3Labs in Culver City, the event featured a gourmet dinner by the Kitchen for Exploring Foods, as well as a special performance by Emmy-nominated actor, singer and songwriter Darren Criss, as well as cast members Yvette Cason, Tracy Nicole Chapman, Angela Teek Hitchens, Boise Holmes and more from the gospel-rock-n-roll musical SHOUT SISTER SHOUT!

The 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration honored the people of Saint John’s who make the difference – physicians, researchers, staff, trustees, volunteers and grateful patients – all working together to save lives. Net proceeds will benefit vital programs, services and greatest needs within distinguished areas of excellence at Saint John’s Health Center including cancer, cardiac care, maternal and child health, men’s health, neuroscience, nursing, orthopedics, thoracic surgery and urology.

On September 24th, 2016, Face Forward, an inspirational charity giving survivors a second chance, hosted its most important fundraising and awareness-building event of the year. The Seventh Annual Gala, “Havana Nights” took place at Vibiana, which focused on celebrating survivors and raising money for victims of domestic violence via donations and live and silent auctions. The exhilarating evening consisted of a cocktail reception, red carpet, a cigar lounge, VR viewing of Etihad Airlines short film with Nicole Kidman, seated dinner by Top Chef Master Neal Frasier, Latin inspired music, dance and decor and a special performance by Grammy winner Nelly. Following the dinner was the awards ceremony honoring individuals that have made a significant difference in this arena. The fundraiser’s goal was to raise more than $500,000 for those that have suffered severe physical abuse.

Face Forward is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 by business woman Deborah Alessi and renowned surgeon Dr. David Alessi. Face Forward’s mission is to provide pro bono facial reconstructive surgery for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. In 2015, Face Forward offered $750,000 in pro bono treatments to victims. Domestic violence is a serious issue affecting 1 in 4 women and more than 4 million women in the US alone.

Earlier this month, Love Luxe Life previewed their new product, custom luxury wedding cakes with James Rosselle at the helm. James Rosselle, passionate about cakes, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, CA and eagerly approached an opportunity to work with master cake designer Ron Ben Israel in New York City. Much of James’ artistry and technique is derived from the teachings of Ron Ben Israel and his emphasis on detail, creativity, and color. James also credits modern art, fashion and the beauty of nature as inspirations for his spectacular cake designs.

Since 2007, four-time winner James Rosselle can be seen on the Food Network series ‘Challenge’ & ‘Last Cake Standing’. In 2011, Desert Professional Magazine named James one of the “Top Ten Cake Artists”. In February 2015, James accepted the Cake Designer position with Bottega Louie in Los Angeles. At Bottega Louie, James is developing the cake program to include special occasion cakes and custom wedding cakes.

We had a blast at this summery yellow dinner party as originally featured on California Wedding Day. We used our Sunflower Tangiers Linen with the Pearl Amalfi napkins.

“California Wedding Day had the pleasure of hosting an intimate dinner at the City Club in downtown Los Angeles. The dramatic space on the 51st floor of the City National Tower boasts commanding views of the L.A. skyline, from the Hollywood Hills and beyond–caputured beautifully by the talented photographer Brian Tropiano. Designer and florist Eddie Zaratsian brought a brightness to the window-soaked dining room with the vibrant yellow Sunflower Tangier tablecloth and Pearl Amalfi napkins from Luxe Linen set with striking white china and gold flatware, all from Dish Wish. Zaratsian’s elegant yellow-hued florals, a contemporary and lush mix of calla lilies, orchids and garden roses added a summery feel to the evening–and perfectly complemented the sunset views afforded by the City Club’s top-of-the-world perch. Guests sipped on gold-hued Monaco margaritas with lovely guitar soloist provided by The Replicas.  Guests dined on a sumptous meal provided by the chefs at City Club including, hors d’oeuvres of cajun chicken with piquillo pepper cream cheese mini bouchees, oyster shooters with citrus cantaloupe oulis, steak churrasco skewer with chimichurri sauce and dinner featuring grilled peach, speck and arugula salad, flash cured skuna bay salmon, dungeness crab risotto and english pea puree followed by rack of lamb with asparagus farro, summer squash and lamb jus. An delicious apricot tart finished the four course meal.”

Global nutrition company Herbalife brings together about 5,000 attendees from all over the world for its annual President’s Summit each spring. But this year, the March 4 to 7 event celebrated even bigger for the brand’s 35th anniversary—and had a complex array of moving parts.

A range of events—about 50 in all, including portions of the conference—within the time frame of the summit meant the production and design team faced significant logistical and creative challenges to keep things fresh for repeat guests. The team pulling off the biggest of the events was led by Sterling Engagements, which worked with Herbalife vice president of worldwide events Diahanna Brown.

Organizers came up with six different concepts for the four major events over as many days. The three-story closing gala alone included three of those concepts. The production staff increased to about 200 including vendors, and 25 on the Sterling team.

The events, which took over venues including JW Marriott, the Event DeckNokia Plaza, and the Nokia Theatre, were all within walking distance of one other at L.A. Live and close to guests’ hotels all over downtown.

As attendees were all independent distributors of Herbalife products, they qualified to attend the conference as well as its splashy welcome reception and closing gala based on their performance. Beyond that, qualifications at various higher levels allowed access to a range of additional events and offerings. For instance, V.I.P. guests were also welcome to join for the Bonus award reception, which had a red carpet theme and a more exclusive feel among a smaller group.

The vibrant Emerald City ball at the Event Deck—a paid charity gala that raised funds for the Herbalife Family Foundation—was a nod to Oz. It had a palette of emerald green, accented with purple, mustard, and metallics, plus a hint of red sparkle to evoke the ruby slippers.

The welcome reception at the Nokia Plaza and Chick Hearn Court had a neutral palette, with decor in champagne, green, and lots of metallic sparkle. And for the closing-night gala at the JW Marriott, Sterling played up a “then, now, next” concept, in recognition of the brand’s history, with a vintage and masculine vibe in black, white, wood tones, and metallic decor.

All events transformed their respective spaces on tight load-in times—just two hours at the shortest.

“It was incredible to design that many concepts in a short time period,” said Sterling’s principal and creative director, Alexandra Rembac. In terms of the creative process, she said, “They all came to life over one weekend for me. I wanted to design them all at once as it was crucial that they were individually conceptualized but ultimately still flowed together cohesively throughout the week. Each concept had its own identity but the overall ambiance they portrayed connected them through subtle characteristics—all emphasizing the 35 years of inspiring results in honor of Herbalife’s 35th anniversary.”

We kicked on 2015 in the best way possible! A rebrand AND the opportunity to sponsor a national conference. People from all over the United States as well as Canada, Europe and Asia attended the 2015 The Special Event Conference.

We took the opportunity to preview pieces from our new Luxe II collection at the Spotlight Luncheon. The Spotlight Event was all about social media and using social media to leverage an event’s reach plus weaving it into the fabric of an event so it feels organic.

Speaker Cara Kleinhaut of Caravents share insights on some of the top event initiatives and strategies for creating smart activations around the event space to engage guests and amplify the brand messaging through guests’ social networks.

Throughout the presentation, guests were be surrounded by a displayed social media feed with full digital engagement. User generated and branded content was pulled from multiple angles into one place. Digital touch points provided interaction for guests, giving them an opportunity to display their personal brand messages.

For this royal blue table design, we used our Brilliant Blue Metallic Weave linens for the 2nd Annual “A Taste of Hope” event at UCLA. This event aims to change lives by promoting physical and emotional well-being, teamwork, tolerance, responsibility, and environmental awareness. “A Taste of Hope” took place at the Pauley Pavilion at UCLA and was produced by Sterling Engagements.

The high profile event and its registered attendees indulged in a conceptualized dining experience by Executive Chef and Owner of Contemporary CateringNathaniel Neubauer. All proceeds raised will assist in funding scholarships for children from Union Rescue Mission (which offers support to homeless families). The Department of Child and Family Services, the YMCA, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
