Holy! Holy! is right with this incredible table designed by Percy Sales Events and Peony & Plum for our Luxe Launch LA held at Bel-Air Bay ClubThe team pulled out all the stops, transforming us into a whole new world with rentals from Revelry Event DesignEDGE Design Decor and The Tent Merchant. Gorgeous decor from Asher Market really popped! Peacock feathers and lovely chinaware from Dish Wish sat upon our Holi Festival Jewel & Aurora Isle of Water Linen and Aurora Green Tea Napkins. The team took it further with floating cakes from Lovesome and authentic Indian music from The Replicas Music featuring Ronobir. Thank you Krista Mason Photography for these gorgeous images!

We have an exclusive interview with Percy Sales of Percy Sales Events conducted by Kristin Banta of Kristin Banta Events. See below for the full interview and photos.

This is beautiful. I’m dying to know what your inspiration behind this was. There are so many elements and mediums, tell me where it all started.

The start of this inspiration was from the Holi Festival fabric that Luxe Linen provided. When we first saw it, it spoke to us. We thought we could do a modern take or go full out Indian and Southeast Asian. We thought it wouldn’t do the fabric any justice if we didn’t go full out South Indian, and so we did that.

Clearly there is a fine Indian inspiration all around this table. However, there is a mix of culture and traditions here.

What we really wanted to was of course play up the linens, but when we talked flowers and vases we wanted to keep with that “Holy! Holi!” theme. So we wanted to keep everything chromatic, one color for the flowers, and amp it out where it could work with any kind of setting. You could change the candles and make it work for anything.

You have such a modern selection for the vessels you are using and I love the juxtaposition. It keeps it really unexpected.

It’s authentic. We wanted to push the linen. When we were designing it, you know it’s scary you have it in your head, but you don’t know how you’re going to design it. Design is a process and you have to let your soul speak to it. People don’t expect to see floating cakes on a cloud.

Let’s talk about that! We have two very different things happening here. There is a residential slant and then we have a very whimsical element. How did that animation happen?

The floating cakes came up last night. They pulled the linen that I was going to use for the back table and it just didn’t happen. As I’m sitting there, I’m thinking how I can have floating cakes. So I played around with the idea of clouds and I ran out and bought some pillow stuffing and fluffed it up and it worked. Cotton candy was the other thing I thought of, so we just wanted something for this entire design. We really wanted to celebrate the Holi festival and that’s what the flowers are saying to me, the color coming out. I know for me, Susan, and Kelly, this is our heart on the table.
