The LUXE launch is one of the wedding and event industry’s most anticipated events, serving as a trendsetting and networking function for top planners and designers. Now in its fourth year, The LUXE Launch is a tabletop showcase featuring the company’s latest linen collection. Each designer pairs up with a florist of their choice to create any tabletop and theme they dream up. This year, we interviewed Bottega Louie – a luxury pastry and design house that created a gorgeous spread of macarons and sweets for the occasion.

LUXE Linen: What was the inspiration behind your design?
Bottega Louie: We were inspired by airy, simplistic spaces decorated with tropical plants. We wanted graphic lines and clearly defined negative space to allow our pastries to shine.

LUXE Linen: Can you tell us about your design collaboration and process with your team?
Bottega Louie: We started with a mood board and inspiration images of floral arrangements. Once we narrowed down the look, we enlisted Leslie from Rebelle Fleur to develop the florals. We had an in-person meeting with her to discuss the shapes, containers, color palette, and flower species. After the centerpiece design was set, we regrouped to brainstorm how to echo the floral color palette throughout our pastries. We selected specific macaron hues to reflect the tropical species and pastries that would complement rather than distract.

LUXE Linen: What was the most unexpected element that you added?
Bottega Louie: The floral arrangements were the most unexpected element of our table, because we typically use a very different style of arrangements with our pastry tables.

LUXE Linen: What is your favorite part of the tabletop?
Bottega Louie: Our favorite part was absolutely the floral arrangements. They added the graphic touch we needed to frame our pastries.

LUXE Linen: How did being given a linen impact your process?
Bottega Louie: The linen we were provided with was selected to be within our brand colors, so our pastries could be the main focus of the table. Cindy chose a white linen for us with a lovely pleated texture that added dimension to our table.

LUXE Linen: What is your reaction to the new LUXE Linen line?
Bottega Louie: The new LUXE Linen line is a vibrant addition to the collection, and it truly showcases the personality of the company. Planners, designers, and brides will easily be able to select a linen from this line that will elevate their event.

LUXE Linen: How did Vibiana as a space impact your design?
Bottega Louie: Vibiana provided a beautiful backdrop for all the tables. The architectural details and dramatic ceilings added an elevated atmosphere for each table to shine within. While our design was not influenced by the space, we certainly feel that the venue heightened the experience of the event.

Because when you’ve got the talented Kristin Banta Events planning the pretty at the Hotel Bel Air with Braedon Photography behind the lens you know you’re in for something special.

From Kristin Banta EventsClassic elegant garden party in soft creamy whites and lush greens with bold pops of onyx and accented by brushed gold metallic.

Guests will be offered cucumber spa water from a gold bar cart as they enter the Swan Lake ceremony area. They will take their seats in the garden on gold Versailles chairs with white cushions as a string quartet plays from the gazebo. The aisle will feature the couple’s monogram in cream flowers set on the grass leading up to a sophisticated alter set with brushed gold pedestals, overflowing with cream florals and greenery, accented by onyx pillar candles.

Following the ceremony, guests will be led up to the cocktail area where they will be offered old fashion cocktails and strawberry mojitos upon entry. The patio will be placed with outdoor lounges with white cushions, high and low cocktail tables draped in textured luxe cream linens and overhead vineyard chandeliers which will be hung wrapped with green garlands. Guests will find their escort cards from a long table adorned with textured cream linen in a different pattern and set with a series of gold plateau style stands draped in cream florals and green garlands and placed with groups of black cards penned with gold calligraphy. This red and gold wedding featured on Inside Weddings is just stunning! Coordinated by The Perfect Fairytale at Four Seasons Beverly Hills, this red and gold wedding was simply magical! Kim and Ty chose traditional red and gold wedding colors for a new concept on a Chinese wedding.

“Kim and Ty chose tradition over trend by forgoing a “first look,” instead electing to wait until the bride walked down the aisle to see each other. Following the pronouncement of husband and wife, guests entered the ballroom for the reception. Each attendee was greeted at their place setting with a cake pop that matched the red-and-gold décor of the space. While every table was topped with a centerpiece of red roses, they alternated between low arrangements and tall ones held aloft by grand, gilded stands. Bullion chargers were paired with crimson linens to complete the regal look of the evening. A graceful five-tiered cake was displayed prominently and adorned with fresh red roses – the flower of the day.”

James Rosselle, passionate about cakes, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, CA and eagerly approached an opportunity to work with master cake designer Ron Ben Israel in New York City. Global nutrition company Herbalife brings together about 5,000 attendees from all over the world for its annual President’s Summit each spring. But this year, the March 4 to 7 event celebrated even bigger for the brand’s 35th anniversary—and had a complex array of moving parts.

A range of events—about 50 in all, including portions of the conference—within the time frame of the summit meant the production and design team faced significant logistical and creative challenges to keep things fresh for repeat guests. The team pulling off the biggest of the events was led by Sterling Engagements, which worked with Herbalife vice president of worldwide events Diahanna Brown.

Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 12.56.23 PM

Organizers came up with six different concepts for the four major events over as many days. The three-story closing gala alone included three of those concepts. The production staff increased to about 200 including vendors, and 25 on the Sterling team.

The events, which took over venues including JW Marriott, the Event DeckNokia Plaza, and the Nokia Theatre, were all within walking distance of one other at L.A. Live and close to guests’ hotels all over downtown.

Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 12.56.11 PM

As attendees were all independent distributors of Herbalife products, they qualified to attend the conference as well as its splashy welcome reception and closing gala based on their performance. Beyond that, qualifications at various higher levels allowed access to a range of additional events and offerings. For instance, V.I.P. guests were also welcome to join for the Bonus award reception, which had a red carpet theme and a more exclusive feel among a smaller group.

The vibrant Emerald City ball at the Event Deck—a paid charity gala that raised funds for the Herbalife Family Foundation—was a nod to Oz. It had a palette of emerald green, accented with purple, mustard, and metallics, plus a hint of red sparkle to evoke the ruby slippers.

Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 12.56.32 PM

The welcome reception at the Nokia Plaza and Chick Hearn Court had a neutral palette, with decor in champagne, green, and lots of metallic sparkle. And for the closing-night gala at the JW Marriott, Sterling played up a “then, now, next” concept, in recognition of the brand’s history, with a vintage and masculine vibe in black, white, wood tones, and metallic decor.

All events transformed their respective spaces on tight load-in times—just two hours at the shortest.

“It was incredible to design that many concepts in a short time period,” said Sterling’s principal and creative director, Alexandra Rembac. In terms of the creative process, she said, “They all came to life over one weekend for me. I wanted to design them all at once as it was crucial that they were individually conceptualized but ultimately still flowed together cohesively throughout the week. Each concept had its own identity but the overall ambiance they portrayed connected them through subtle characteristics—all emphasizing the 35 years of inspiring results in honor of Herbalife’s 35th anniversary.”
